Denise gives birth to baby boy and new career as a Registered Nurse!

Career Specialist Dana Marlow reports on her customer. “Denise came to see me in December 2013. She had been accepted into the part-time (PT) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program at John A. Logan College that was to begin January 2014. At the time, she had been working 20 hours per week as a CNA earning $9.25 per hour. Denise was also raising 2 small children on her own,” Dana explains.

Mason leaves his “fast food” job to become a Registered Nurse.

Career Specialist Christina Abbott reports on her customer, “Mason was a recent graduate from high school and was working part-time at McDonalds when he decided he wanted to pursue a career in the nursing field. It was his goal from the very beginning. He was valedictorian of his class and was very motivated. Mason’s family was not able to provide all the financial support needed to assist with the high cost of the nursing program.

Larry, a dislocated Veteran, overcomes barriers to find full-time employment.

Career Specialist Andrea Rodgers reports on her customer, “Larry visited Man-Tra-Con for Job Search assistance in May 2017. It was determined that Larry was eligible for individualized career services. As a dislocated worker from the American Coal Company, Larry had exhausted his unemployment benefits. I also discovered that Larry was a veteran, who had been honorably discharged from the Navy.”
