Adult/Dislocated Worker Program Lead Nikki Lanham reports on her customer. “Nathan had been laid off from Camping World when he came to Man-Tra-Con for assistance in November 2023. He had suffered a major loss of income, and wanted to transition to a good-paying career,” Nikki explains.

“With a wife and baby about to be born, Nathan needed assistance to return to school. Through Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant funding, Nathan was able to receive financial assistance for tuition, fees, books, and transportation,” Nikki adds.

“Nathan enrolled in the Computer and Support Networking AAS degree program at John A. Logan College (JALC) as a non-traditional student, where he excelled in his classes. Nathan was named JALC Career and Technical Education Student of the Year. He was also named ELT Computer Support and Networking Freshman of the Year. He graduated in December 2025, with a GPA of 3.9,” Nikki reports.

“Nathan was always a delight to work with. He excelled in school. Throughout the whole program, he never showed frustration while having to manage family life, work, and being an older student. He remained positive and focused throughout the whole training program,” Nikki adds.

“Nathan currently works for Northbridge I.T. Services in Marion, Illinois, as a Structured Cabling Engineer, earning $25.00 per hour.

Nathan is thankful for the assistance he received from Man-Tra-Con that allowed him to return to school and find new employment. “After losing my job in 2023, I faced real uncertainty about how to provide long-term stability for my family. Through Man-Tra-Con’s support, I was able to return to school and pursue my AAS in Computer Support and Networking. That opportunity allowed me to transition into a growing technical field and build a stronger, more secure future. I’m deeply thankful for the support and commitment of the great people at Man-Tra-Con who made this possible,” Nathan says.
