After her lay-off, WIOA funding and Man-Tra-Con services helped Laci find a new career as a nurse.
Career Specialist Nikki Lanham reports on her customer. “Lacy came to Man-Tra-Con for assistance in July of 2022. She had been laid-off from her job at the Hyatt Reservation Center in Marion, Illinois, since 2020. Lacy wanted to return to school to become a nurse. She was seeking training assistance to enroll in the Associate Degree in Nursing program at John A. Logan College,” Nikki says.
Diana earned her GED and developed “work-ready” skills through WIOA funded Youth and Work Experience programs.
Career Specialist Charley Mercier reports on his customer. “Diana enrolled in the Youth program in September 2023. She needed assistance with obtaining her GED, continuing her education, and eventually finding employment,” Charley says.
WIOA Youth program assistance helps Olivia get her GED and plan her future career path.
Career Specialist Madyson Senior reports on her customer. “In April 2024, Olivia enrolled in the Youth Program at Man-Tra-Con. She needed assistance with completing her GED and attended GED classes at the John A. Logan Extension Center in West Frankfort, Illinois.
Josiah, a U.S. Army Veteran, finds full-time employment with WIOA assistance.
Career Specialist Madyson Senior reports on her customer. “In March 2024, Josiah, a United States Army Veteran, needed help with job search and creating a resume when he applied for assistance at Man-Tra-Con. He had been searching for a job on his own for about 6 months without any success,” Madyson explains.
WIOA Youth program assistance helps a young mother work toward a career in nursing.
Career Specialist Madyson Senior reports on her customer. “In April 2024, Dakota enrolled in Man-Tra-Con’s Youth Program. She needed assistance with completing her GED and was eligible for financial incentives for passing GED exams as well as a transportation allowance. She earned her GED in less than one month,” Madyson exclaims!
Work Experience Program helps Jemma learn marketable skills as she works toward her career goals.
Career Specialist Madyson Senior reports on her customer. “In September 2023, Jemma began receiving Man-Tra-Con services as a youth customer through Workforce Investment & Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Supplemental Grant funding. She was also enrolled at ECHO Alternative School to earn her high school diploma.”
A mom of 3 children, McKenzie overcame several hurdles to achieve a career in nursing.
Career Specialist Nikki Lanham reports on her customer. “McKenzie was a mom of 3 children when she came to Man-Tra-Con in July 2022, seeking WIOA training assistance. She was interested in becoming a nurse and needed our services to enroll in the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program at John A. Logan College for the fall 2022 semester.”
Shane builds a new life with assistance from Work Experience and Re-Entry programs
Shane became a Man-Tra-Con customer while incarcerated and participating in the Murphysboro Life Skills Re-Entry program. He had been selected to enroll in a Mobile Accelerated Welding training program provided at the Murphysboro facility.
Work Experience helps Kevin find new employment after a “lay off.”
Kevin had been “laid off” during the pandemic and needed assistance with rejoining the workforce.
