Career Specialist Michelle Sanchez reports on her customer. “Kamillia, a single parent of two small children, was seeking WIOA training assistance when she visited Man-Tra-Con in December 2016. At the time, Kamillia was enrolled in the Associate Degree Program (ADN) at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois. Although she had been working two jobs while attending school, Kamillia still needed help with tuition, fees, books, supplies, and mileage reimbursement. She was determined eligible to receive WIOA training assistance for her ADN program at Rend Lake College, and also received assistance with the Practical Nursing program for the summer 2017 semester,” Michelle explains.
“Kamillia graduated from both nursing programs by May 2018, and found employment one month later as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Heartland Women’s Health. Today, she is currently earning a higher hourly wage than when she was first enrolled with Man-Tra-Con and had been working at two jobs. She loves her current job as an LPN and plans to continue with her education once she passes her RN board exams,” Michelle reports.
