Leanne
Career Specialist Michelle Sanchez reports on her customer, “Leanne sought training assistance in July 2015, after working as a CNA for Heartland Regional Medical Center. She discovered she enjoyed working in the healthcare field after she had been laid off from her previous job due to plant closure. Although Leanne was working, she was not earning self-sufficient wages.”
“Leanne enrolled in the Associate Degree Nursing program at Rend Lake College in August 2015. She was eligible for WIOA services as a dislocated worker and received assistance with the following: tuition, fees, books, supplies, and mileage reimbursement,” Michelle explains.
“In May 2017, Leanne successfully completed her program at Rend Lake College and obtained her RN license. She stayed with Heartland Regional Medical Center throughout her journey but was able to move up to Registered Nurse, now earning $21.00 per hour. She loves her job, enjoys caring for people, and is happy to be finally earning enough to support herself,” Michelle reports.
