Career Specialist Michelle Sanchez reports on her customer. “In August 2017, Makala was eligible for WIOA services as a low-income adult when she visited Man-Tra-Con for assistance. She had been working part-time as a Certified Nurse Assistant and was not earning enough to support herself,” Michelle explains.
“When I first met with Makala, she had just completed her first year in the Associate Degree Nursing program at Rend Lake College (RLC) in Ina, Illinois. WIOA services allowed her to complete her program successfully, as she received financial assistance with tuition, fees, supplies, textbooks, and mileage reimbursement,” Michelle adds.
“Makala completed her degree at RLC and graduated in May 2019. She was promoted to a Registered Nurse position at Herrin Hospital in September 2019. Makala is currently earning $23.00 per hour as an RN and loves her new role in healthcare,” Michelle exclaims!
