Kimberly
Kimberly was a stay-at-home mom with three children when she learned about the apprenticeship program from a Shawnee Health Facebook post that someone had shared.
“It looked like a great opportunity. I loved the idea of starting a career and having it paid for, and where I could work at my own pace. Shawnee was very behind it and gave full support, so I was very excited to start this journey,” Kimberly says.
“Sometimes being a mom of three, and keeping up with home and house, school and work can be challenging, but there was a lot of support throughout the whole process. The best thing about the program was the support and the flexibility with classes being online. I loved that,” Kimberly says.
After successfully finishing her 18-month apprenticeship program at Shawnee Health OB-GYN, Kimberly received a Certificate of Completion from the Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship in March 2026.
Kimberly is now working full-time as a Clinical Certified Medical Assistant at Shawnee Heath OB-GYN in Marion, and plans to continue her career in health care. “I love my job,” Kimberly adds.
