Intake & Career Specialist Amy Blocker reports on her customer. “In March of 2023, Shauntae came to Man-Tra-Con determined to enhance her job search skills. Having faced unemployment and various life challenges, she recognized the need for a fresh start. As a single parent of three children, Shauntae was fully committed to securing the income and guidance necessary to provide for her family,” Amy says.

“Shauntae was eligible for training assistance through the Job Training and Educational Development Program (JTED). She enrolled in a Work Experience Program (WEP) at the American Job Center (AJC) in Marion, Illinois, working as a Resource Room Assistant until August 2023. The Work Experience Program allows a participant to earn wages while gaining marketable skills during the training period,” Amy explains.

“After her WEP ended, Shauntae found a full-time job working for Oasis Outdoors. While employed at Oasis, Shauntae learned of a full-time position opening up at Man-Tra-Con and applied. Shauntae had done such a great job during her WEP, that she was hired back as a full-time Resource Room Assistant in January 2024. Since returning to her position at the AJC, Shauntae has been promoted to One-Stop Navigator & WIOA Support, where she is currently working and serving customers seeking employment,” Amy says.

“Shauntae has made remarkable strides on her career path and now approaches each day with positivity and confidence. I am very proud of her. She has worked extremely hard to create a better life for herself and her family,” Amy adds.

Shauntae is thankful for the services she received from Man-Tra-Con. “I am very grateful for Man-Tra-Con; they have done so much for me and set me on a great career path. Man-Tra-Con is such an amazing program — I wish everyone knew about it! I wouldn’t be where I am today without Man-Tra-Con,” Shauntae says.
