Man-Tra-Con Career Specialist Nikki Lanham reports on her customer. “Juliea came to Man-Tra-Con in January 2024 seeking training assistance. She was a 23-year-old single mom of a 2-year-old boy. Juliea needed help to get a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree at Beck School of Nursing, and eventually earn her Registered Nursing (RN) degree,” Nikki says.

It was tough at first. Juliea was going to a school that had a different process than the more traditional schools, but still, she preservered,” Nikki adds.

“Through Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding, Man-Tra-Con was able to provide Juliea with career counseling services including financial assistance for occupational skills training, books, and exam fees,” Nikki says.

“Although she was only 23 years old, Juliea went from living with her mom to being able to move out and live on her own with her son,” Nikki adds.

“When Juliea first signed up with Man-Tra-Con, she had been working as a Resident Assistant for Addington Place Assisted Living in Sparta, Illinois, earning $14.25 per hour. In February 2025, after receiving her LPN degree and licensure from Beck School of Nursing, Juliea was promoted to LPN, and is currently earning $27.50 per hour — a $13.00 per hour increase in pay,” Nikki exclaims!

“Juliea plans to enroll in the Registered Nursing degree program at John A. Logan College for the Fall 2026 semester, which has always been a longtime goal of hers. She is currently taking prerequisite classes to make that happen,” Nikki reports.

Juliea talks about the assistance she received from us. “Man-Tra-Con helped throughout my nursing program and licensure to relieve a huge finanicial burden. I would not have been able to complete the LPN program without it. Thank you, Man-Tra-Con,” Juliea says.
